Finding People Llike Me

Isn't it wonderful when you think you're the only one in the world with so many problems happening at once, to all of a sudden find a friend with the same exact problems.. Ok maybe not exact but pretty darn close..

Today I was training a new woman at work, and in our discussions about computer programs, and special discounts, we happened in on the conversation about medical problems. I'm so happy that I'm not the only one in this great big universe who has seen stupid doctors had three or four medical disasters going on at once!

Anyways- we started talking about how I have been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrom) and how I was happy with my new doctor and she told me that her daughter has the SAME problem. Not just with our symptoms but with what the doctors are doing about it. Now I guess its kind of comforting to know that two different doctors are doing about the same thing for us, makes it seem like maybe they do know what they are talking about. (Even if it doesn't work) We talked about what medications her doctor had put her on, what has helped and what hasn't. It's amazing how common things like this are! Not only that but her daughter has gained a ton of weight since the start of all her symptoms and has lately been getting constant migraines. That's exactly what happened to me, although I can't say I have constant migraine but they are definitley presenting themselves more frequently than they used to.

I just thought I would share this little tid bit so maybe if there are more of you out there like me, we can share stories and advice with each other. Please feel free to leave any comments.

KERRI!
In follow up to what you said. PCOS is serious whether most people think it is or not... you should really go to the doctor... it could mean the difference in between you having kids or not... having ovarian cancer or not. I've done y research..

Much Love

Hey Sarah...
I found you through your mom's cooking blog! I have had PCOS all my menstrating life (since 11), but was not diagnosised until 27 or 28. But the time I was 28, my cycles had completely stopped and then the search for what to do commenced.

I was fortunate to find a wonderful pro-life OB-GYN with tons of experience with PCOS women - especially those who wanted to get pregnant.

Unfortunately for me, I tend to hang out in the 'unusual', 'interesting' and 'unique' category, so he was not able to help me directly get pregnant with Peter (12 years later).

But who did help me ultimately? God did. There is a slippery slope out there for women who want to live truly pro-life lives and all the medical technology out there to 'help' them. So take it one step at a time, one migraine at a time and look at some simple ways to exercise and eat properly.

I am here for you, if you need someone who has lived with it for many, many years. It can get very frustrating, but that is when I know I need to up my prayer life to be able to handle what comes. Also, having a very supportive husband, who will pick up the slack when I am 'down' with a migraine or some other ailment associated with the wonderful condition....

Hugs to you!!

Mrs. Krug
